Starting October 16, things are getting even simpler at LOKNI. We believe everyone should have easy access to clean, healthy, and filtered water — anytime, anywhere. That’s why we decided to not only unify and simplify our tariffs in the LOKNI app, but also make them cheaper.

Why the change?

Our network of filtration stations has grown rapidly over the past few years — today, you can fill your bottle with LOKNI not only at universities, but also in public places, such as train and bus stations.

Since the filtered water is the same everywhere, there’s no need to worry about whether you’re using a university or a station tariff. From now on, you’ll only need two tariffs for our entire network — LOKNI FREE and LOKNI PREMIUM.

If you’re already using LOKNI, don’t worry — your current tariff will be automatically switched to the new one. You don’t have to do anything, just update the app, otherwise it won’t load correctly.

How does it work?

  1. Download the LOKNI app.
  2. Choose your tariff: LOKNI FREE or LOKNI PREMIUM.
  3. Find the nearest station on the map.
  4. Scan the QR code.
  5. Fill up with filtered water — anytime, anywhere.

It’s quick, simple, and you don’t have to think about where you’re filling up — whether it’s at a university, dormitory, or station.

Our new tariffs

FREE Tariff

  • 0.5 liters of still water per day, for free
  • valid across the entire LOKNI network — at universities, dorms, or stations

PREMIUM Tariff

  • 3 liters of still or sparkling water per day
  • valid across the entire LOKNI network
  • price depends on subscription length — the longer you drink with us, the less you pay:
    • 3 days: 29 CZK (10 CZK/day)
    • 1 month: 89 CZK (previously 149 CZK) → only 3 CZK/day
    • 1 year: 365 CZK (previously 549 CZK) → only 1 CZK/day

For comparison: a 1.5-liter bottle of store-bought water costs about 20–50 CZK. With LOKNI, you get 3 liters of filtered water for 1 CZK a day — that’s up to 50× cheaper.

What are LOKNI+ stations?

At some stations, our partner contributes to the cost of filtered water. These stations are marked as LOKNI+ in the app map. With the FREE plan, you can get up to 3 liters of still or sparkling filtered water after scanning the QR code at these stations.

How does it work?

  • At a LOKNI+ station, simply scan the QR code using the FREE plan
  • You can then fill up to 3 liters of still or sparkling filtered water

Why is our filtered water the best choice?

Our stations filter tap water to ensure top quality. The water passes through a series of filters that remove trace substances found in regular tap water. The result is:

  • crystal-clear, refreshing water with great taste
  • free of chlorine, microplastics, and other impurities
  • high-quality, fresh, clean, and healthy water.

And you can choose between still or sparkling water directly at the station.

Save the planet — and your wallet

Every refill of LOKNI filtered water means one less plastic bottle produced. Together, we save thousands of bottles each month.

Today, you can find over 90 LOKNI stations across the Czech Republic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tariffs

What’s the difference between the FREE and PREMIUM tariffs?

  • FREE: 0.5 liters of still water per day.
  • PREMIUM: 3 liters of still or sparkling water per day across the entire LOKNI network.

Can I really use LOKNI for free?
Yes! We want filtered water to be available to everyone. That’s why even with the FREE tariff, you can get up to 0.5 liters of water per day for free. The PREMIUM tariff helps us keep the service financially sustainable.

Are all LOKNI water stations accessible to the general public?
All LOKNI stations are located in high-traffic areas, but unfortunately, not all of them are freely accessible to the general public. Some stations are located within university campuses, and to visit them it is necessary to pass through the reception or turnstile of the given institution, which in some cases is not possible for the general public.

Do students have to pay for water?
No matter if you’re a student, employee, or visitor — the tariff conditions are the same for everyone.

LOKNI+ Stations

What is a LOKNI+ station?
These are stations supported by a partner or sponsor who helps cover their operating costs.

Where can I find LOKNI+ stations?
They are clearly marked in the map directly in the app.

How does this partnership benefit me?
At LOKNI+ stations, you can fill up up to 3 liters of filtered water per day (still or sparkling) completely for free, even without the PREMIUM tariff.

Health & Water Quality

Why is LOKNI water better?
LOKNI filtration removes tastes, odors, chlorine, chlorination by-products, traces of pharmaceuticals and hormones, pesticides, and microplastics (> 0.2 µm).
Our UVC LED technology additionally kills bacteria and viruses.

Where does the water come from?
We filter tap water — we don’t transport or store it in barrels. LOKNI transforms regular tap water into top-quality water right at the moment you fill your bottle.

How fine is the LOKNI filter?
Our filters have a 0.2 µm fineness. For comparison, a white blood cell is about 25 µm, and a red blood cell is 7.5 µm.

Does the filtration remove magnesium and calcium?
No — the LOKNI filtration is designed to preserve Mg and Ca, which are essential minerals for human health.

Does LOKNI use the same technology at home or in offices?
Yes — we use the same high-end filters and UVC LED technology, ensuring top chemical and microbiological quality.

Does LOKNI water contain chlorine?
No — our filtration removes free and bound chlorine as well as trihalomethanes (THMs) and other by-products of chlorination.

How does LOKNI prevent bacteria growth?
Our filters feature bacteriostatic design, preventing bacterial growth. Every station also uses UVC LED sterilization and automatic flushing systems.

Is LOKNI water just “safe” or also “good”?
It’s both! Beyond safety standards, LOKNI water is fresh, odorless, chilled, and great-tasting — meeting the qualities people associate with truly “good” water.

Is sparkling water as high-quality as still?
Yes. The same filtered water is used; carbonation happens after filtration and UVC treatment.

How is quality maintained over time?
Regular maintenance ensures consistent quality — our technicians perform cleaning, flushing, sanitization, and timely filter/UV/CO₂ replacements.

What if something doesn’t work?
You can report issues directly in the app. We also remotely monitor all stations to ensure smooth operation.

Why is trust in a water provider important?
Trust is key to water quality perception. LOKNI builds it through transparent technology and certification by the Czech National Institute of Public Health (SZÚ).

Why filter water in the Czech Republic if tap water is already good?
That’s true, but quality can deteriorate inside building pipes — due to material contamination or stagnation. Filtering ensures consistently clean, great-tasting water even in large buildings.

Limits & Refills

What if 0.5 liters a day isn’t enough?
Upgrade to PREMIUM for up to 3 liters of still or sparkling water daily.

Can I fill more than 3 liters per day?
Yes — at some stations, you can pay extra via card payment terminal.

How can I check how much water I’ve used today?
In the app, go to the “Home” screen — your usage is displayed visually.

App & Usage

Do I need the app to get free water?
Yes — the LOKNI app is required to access the FREE plan.

Why is the app always required?
It ensures fair use (no overuse or misuse), helps maintain safety and hygiene, and allows us to provide the FREE tariff sustainably.

How do I switch from FREE to PREMIUM?
You can easily upgrade in the PREMIUM section of the app.

Does LOKNI work offline?
You only need an internet connection to verify your account — after that, you can use the station offline.
